ABC Drops Season One Trailer For 'Doctor Odyssey'

ABC is bringing its medical drama genre to the high seas with Doctor Odyssey. The show will star Joshua Jackson as the titular Doctor working on a cruise ship. In a teaser released this week, Jackson says, “This ship is heaven” while the footage cuts to pools on deck. When another person reminds him of his job to “keep everyone alive,” the footage switches to intense scenes of shocking a man back to life. The team is shown boarding the man in a smaller boat to bring him to a hospital on shore. Character names have not been released but actors Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo, and Sean Teale are present in the trailer.
Ryan Murphy leads the project as writer and executive producer with help from Jackson, Johnson, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken. Paris Barclay in addition to directing also acts as an executive producer. The remaining executive producers are Eric Paquette, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, and Nissa Diederich. In a previous interview, Jackson described the series as “Ryan Murphy at his outrageous, over-the-top best.” The actor claimed the scripts “are written with a lot of joy” and “they’re very funny, and they move very fast.” Doctor Odyssey premieres on ABC on September 25.
