Ben Kingsley Will Be Back As Trevor Slattery In New 'Wonder Man' Series

Here is some news that’ll have you believing in horse-riding apes again. It has been revealed that Sir Ben Kingsley will be reprising his role as Trevor Slattery. He will be doing so in the still yet-to-be-announced Wonder Man series for Disney+.
The character first appeared in Iron Man 3, in his highest-profile gig as The Mandarin, the figurehead of Aldrich Killian’s terrorist operation and AIM’s Extremis operations, eventually arrested and taken to Seagate Prison before he’s broken out in the All Hail the King One Shot so he could be placed in the custody of the actual Mandarin. That’s where we find him in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, spared from death by Wenwu for his acting abilities. He gains his furry companion, a hundun named Morris, and befriends Shang-Chi, Katy, and Xialing when they break him out and partakes in the defense of Ta Lo against the Ten Rings and the Dweller in Darkness.

The Wonder Man series was first reported to be in development in June. Kingsley’s casting reunites him with Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton, who is the series’s executive producer and co-creator. By not being the Mandarin, Slattery is an original character afforded the ability to pop up anywhere, really, but this series seems to be perfect for who the character is. In the comics, Wonder Man is actor and stuntman Simon Williams This casting at least implies this part of the character will be maintained in the series. Slattery will have competition for the greatest actor in the MCU (while of course being played by one of the most renowned actors in the business).
While the series is still not formally announced, Disney+ Day and the Marvel Studios Showcase at the D23 Expo are only about a week away. Whether it’s actually ready to be announced is of course unknown but still keeping the Academy Award-winning actor within this franchise is nothing short of assuring.
