Jaw Dropping 'LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga' Video Shows Off Gorgeous Looking Coruscant
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, the heavily anticipated and long awaited LEGO Star Wars video game (originally slated for 2020), encompassing all nine films in the Skywalker Saga, will finally be released on multiple platforms on April 5, 2022. This is, of course, not the first time that Star Wars has been playable as a LEGO video game. There have been collections of the prequel trilogy, the original trilogy, the Clone Wars (based on the 2008 animated series), and The Force Awakens, and the "Complete Saga" (Episodes 1-6) released previously.
This will, however, be the first time that The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker will be available for gameplay, as separate incarnations of these movies were never released. During playthroughs of my copy of The Force Awakens, I was disappointed that The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker were never released, but I'm excited that we will be able to play them now. The Skywalker Saga collection not only corrects this major oversight, but also recreates all the previous games from the ground up, creating an entirely new way to experience the Skywalker Saga films, including dialogue, something that has been absent from previous releases.

The game's developers, Travellar's Tales, recently released a ten-second video clip on its Twitter account showing in-game Coruscant, the Star Wars galaxy's "galactic capitol" planet, most prominently featured in the prequel trilogy (Episodes 1-3). During the prequels, Coruscant was a planet-wide city that served as the home to both the Galactic Senate of the Republic and the Jedi Order, prior to its tragic downfall. Coruscant was later controlled by the Empire, although aside from a brief appearance in the Special Edition version of Return of the Jedi, showing rioters toppling a statue of Emperor Palpatine, Coruscant is not seen in either the original trilogy nor the sequel trilogy. This leaves many fans to speculate what has happened to Coruscant in the years following the prequel trilogy, especially since a different planet, Hosnian Prime, is designated as the capital of the New Republic by the time of The Force Awakens. The original rumored version of Episode 9 by Colin Trevorrow would have featured a return to Coruscant as part of the main storyline, but with the replacement of Trevorrow with J.J. Abrams, that development never came to pass.
The clip released of Coruscant is, in a word, dazzling. If this is any indication of how the rest of the game looks and feels, I feel confident in saying that it will be a treat for the eyes. There is some speculation that Coruscant may act as a gameplay "hub" for the overall game or possibly just a segment of the game (i.e. prequel trilogy). In previous LEGO Star Wars video games, the designated "hub" area serves to connect the players to individual levels featured in the game. Aside from the visual delights evident in this clip, players will also have access to a large variety of characters to unlock which can be used anywhere throughout the game, creating a chance to imagine different story possibilities. What is even more impressive is that even obscure characters, such as Temmin "Snap" Wexley's personal B1 battle-droid, "Mister Bones", makes an appearance in this game. Also available for players are new combat maneuvers and tricks not available in previous LEGO Star Wars games. Breaking with previous LEGO Star Wars games, this new release will also include character dialogue. Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) and Tom Kane (Yoda) are both noted as contributors to the game.
