David Tennant And Catherine Tate To Return To ‘Doctor Who’
What’s more exciting than hearing that Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary is coming up in 2023? How about hearing that one of the most beloved pairings in Doctor Who history is reuniting and filming scenes expected to air during the Doctor Who 60th celebration! David Tennant and Catherine Tate are finally returning as the Doctor and Donna, but many fans are worried what this reunion might mean for Donna’s character.
The last that fans saw of the Doctor and Donna was when the Doctor was forced to wipe Donna’s memory. She was described by both Rose Tyler and the Tenth Doctor as being the most important woman in all of creation after she saved the whole of reality from the Daleks and Davros. After part of her brain awakened the Time Lord DNA that was transferred to her during a two-way biological meta-crisis, she was transformed into “Doctor Donna”, causing her mind to overload. So, in order to save her life, the Tenth Doctor had to make her forget him and left her family with a warning that “if ever she remembers, she will die.” So, this reunion of the Doctor and Donna has fans reeling over what might happen in these upcoming episodes.

For anyone late to the party, David Tennant plays the incarnation of the Tenth Doctor for the BBC science fiction television franchise Doctor Who. David Tennant’s Doctor is typically regarded as one of the most iconic Doctors to be incarnated, alongside Tom Baker’s role as the Fourth Doctor. The Doctor is a centuries old alien Time Lord from a planet called Gallifrey who travels time and space in the TARDIS. At the end of life, the Doctor will regenerate, resulting in a new physical appearance and personality.
The Tenth Doctor was portrayed as outwardly charismatic, a charming adventurer, likable, and easy-going but could also be turned to righteous fury when provoked. His first appearance lasted 20 seconds following the Ninth Doctors regeneration at the end of “The Parting of the Ways”. His first full episode was the 2005 Christmas Special, “The Christmas Invasion”. He would then appear in the 2006, 2007, and 2008 series. The 60th anniversary coming up in 2023 isn’t even the only anniversary celebration that David Tenant has returned for. He also made an appearance for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary back in 2013.
