Will We Get A Rangers Of Tatooine Show?

The future of The Book of Boba Fett remains up in the air. Since the release of the finale “Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor,” there has been no confirmation from either Disney or Lucasfilm on whether or not the show will be getting a second season. With much of the show's time being devoted to characters aside from Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, many fans are hoping for a second season more centered on Boba without having to worry about tying into The Mandalorian. Still, it seems at this point that The Book of Boba Fett may have only been intended to serve as a bridge between The Mandalorian Seasons 2 and 3, which has understandably left many fans of Temuera Morrison's current take on Boba Fett disappointed. Boba Fett deserves a show all to himself and The Book of Boba Fett could fix that issue if it were renewed for another season.

On the other hand, even if the series were not renewed for any further seasons, I do not think we have seen the last of Boba Fett by any means. While the show does wrap itself up fairly neatly in its seventh episode, there are many characters and storylines that have yet to be concluded. The biggest one is clearly the Fett Gotra. The final moments of Chapter 7 show Boba, Fennec, and their newfound allies gathered in the streets of Mos Espa while onlookers pay Boba their due respects.

Even though the Pyke Syndicate has left Tatooine, there is clearly more work to be done in the city, which is still recovering from the battle with the Pykes and will certainly be targeted by more of Boba’s rivals in the future. Another unresolved storyline is the state of Freetown whose marshal Cobb Vanth is shown to still be alive during the post-credits scene. There are also characters such as Peli Motto, Carson Teva, and the deceased mayor's majordomo, who still have yet to be fully explored and have clearly been set up for future storylines. Basically, there is still a lot of unfinished business on Tatooine. Even if The Book of Boba Fett itself does not get renewed, I think there is another way to give all of these characters and storylines proper closure. That is with a Rangers of Tatooine show.

For me, a show focusing on the Fett Gotra, Cobb Vanth, Peli Motto, and Carson Teva would be an effective way to continue the many disparate storylines on Tatooine without having to focus on one single character. Each of these characters is compelling in their own ways and an anthology series jumping back and forth between each of their perspectives would certainly be entertaining to watch. For example, a few episodes could center on Boba and Fennec, while another few could center on Krrsantan and the Mods, while the next few could center on Cobb Vanth and Carson Teva, and so on and so forth.

Tatooine is one of the most fleshed-out planets in the Star Wars universe, with many factions and locations that could each have their own narratives centered around them. Aside from our central characters, there are also the Tusken Raiders, the Jawas, the numerous bounty hunters, and the average scum and villainy that populate the desert world. The possibilities for the kinds of stories that could be told on Tatooine are practically limitless. This is why I think a Rangers of Tatooine series would be a great addition to the growing catalog of Star Wars series. Even if we don't get a show focused solely on Boba Fett in the future, I think a Tatooine anthology series would be the next best thing.
