National Cinema Day Discount Tickets Will Include 'Spider-Man No: Way Home' Extended Release
It’s no news that movie theaters have been, for the most part, on the decline. The only times people go to see films are when the latest Marvel blockbuster has come out. With ever-increasing ticket prices, it’s just not economic to go out to see a movie more than a few times a year for the average filmgoer. That may change a bit, if just for a day.
It has been announced that September 3rd is National Cinema Day, and prices for certain movies across participating theaters throughout the U.S. will be as low as three dollars. The hope is certainly that people will go out to see more films, especially given the weak box office showing of the past month. The summer rush has died down.
However, the most exciting part about all of this is that it will coincide with the extended edition release of the year’s main hit, Spider-Man: No Way Home subtitled The More Fun Stuff Version. With the move into Stage IV of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man is easily the most bankable star after the deaths of Tony Stark/Iron Man and Captain America. He had a fanbase even before his addition to the MCU. No Way Home was the latest example of how much money the films can make with it pulling in $804 million at the domestic box office, and 1.9 billion worldwide.
Now people will have an even better reason to pay money to see the extended edition. Instead of ten to fifteen bucks a ticket, depending on where you live, now audiences can enjoy it for a fraction of the cost.
September 3rd. Mark your calendars.
