New Premier Date And Full Trailer For 'Star Wars: Andor'
Star Wars: Andor just dropped a brand new trailer for the world to see. Originally announced back in November of 2018, Andor was pitched as a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, following the life of Rebellion agent Cassian Andor prior to the events of the film. As we’ve neared the show’s premiere, Andor’s main star Diego Luna has given us even more details about the premise of the series. Andor is set to begin early on in Cassian’s life, showing his childhood beneath early Imperial rule. According to Luna, Cassian will start out being apathetic towards the galaxy’s first few rebel cells and their struggle against the Galactic Empire. But as the show goes on, he will become more and more involved in the fight until he becomes the fully committed rebel spy we see in Rogue One. Along the way, we will also see various other Imperial defectors, including Mon Mothma and Saw Gerrera, prior to their official joining of the Rebel Alliance.
Just this morning, we were treated to a brand new trailer for the series. The trailer was introduced by Luna himself during an interview on Good Morning America. After explaining the show’s premise as well as a few behind the scenes details, Luna revealed that the show’s premiere date was changed from August 31 to September 21 and would be premiering with three whole episodes. Though this change of date is certainly surprising, letting Lucasfilm take all the time they need to get this series how they want it to be is a plus. The fact we’re getting three episodes on the same day makes up for the extra waiting time. The trailer itself is also quite exciting, giving us more looks at Cassian’s early years and first experiences with the Imperial occupation of his home world. We are also given more looks at Mon Mothma and Stellan Skarsgard’s characters, who seem to be preparing themselves for the coming revolution. In addition, we are given our first look at Saw Gerrera, played once again by Forest Whittaker, who seems to be with the Partisans as he speaks with Skarsgard about going to war with the Empire.
Andor is shaping up to be a unique series exploring Cassian’s origins as well as those of the Rebellion. Plus with returning fan favorite characters like Mothma and Gerrera, we’re sure to get many exciting connections to the larger Star Wars galaxy as it prepares for the coming civil war. Even though we are going to be waiting a bit longer than we initially expected, I’m sure the series will be more than worth the wait. In the words of Jyn Erso, the time to fight is now.
