One Of The Most Prolific Marvel Comic Inkers, Tom Palmer, Has Passed Away At Age 81
Tom Palmer passed away on August 18th at the age of 81, according his official Facebook page:
"We are very sad to share the news that legendary comic book inker and artist Tom Palmer passed away on August 18, 2022, at the age of 81. He will be remembered fondly by his loving family and his many fans."
Palmer was perhaps one of the most prolific comic book inkers committed to the medium. His career stretches back to 1968 when he began by working on the cover of Marvel's Doctor Strange. Tom worked with Marvel regularly until the early 2000s. Throughout his time with Marvel, he was able to collaborate with the likes of Gene Colan and Neal Adams. Palmer earned a mark of high praise, specifically from Gene Colan, whose art style was notoriously hard to ink.
Palmer and Colan worked together often over the years. Notably, Tomb Of Dracula and Daredevil are both regarded to be some of the most visually distinct books Marvel was publishing when they were released. When Palmer sat down to work with Neal Adams, he was inking out Uncanny X-Men. He was even around when publishers made classic novels like The Three Musketeers and The Man in the Iron Mask into comics, both of which he drew. Even after all the iconic comics he helped bring to life, Tom Palmer joined forces with Frank Millar and transitioned his distinct art style onto the big screen during the animated sequences in Kick-Ass
Tom Palmer was an icon in the world of comic books, and these animated worlds will seem dimmer without him.
