Phase Six Of The MCU Will Begin With 'Fantastic Four' Movie In 2024 According To Marvel Studios At SDCC
A few familiar faces are returning to the big screen to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Previously the Fantastic Four appeared in a series of two films directed by 20th Century Fox with the MCU’s own Chris Evans playing the Human Torch. A reboot of the superhero team showed up in a 2015 film with Miles Teller as Reed Richards, but the closest fans have come to seeing the first Marvel family in the MCU was a cameo in Multiverse Of Madness. SPOILERS AHEAD: John Krasinski shows up in the Earth-838 universe as Mr. Fantastic who leads a group of superheroes known as the Illuminati.
That all changes with the start of the MCU’s Phase Six. A new Fantastic Four film has been announced for release on Nov. 2, 2024. Phase Six will conclude with Avengers: Kang Dynasty on May 2, 2025, and Avengers: Secret Wars on Nov. 7, 2025. Fans have been putting together a dream cast for the Fantastic Four for years. John Krasinski as Reed Richards was a fan dream come true in the Multiverse, but the founder of the Fantastic Four is likely to be played by a different actor in the main MCU timeline. Chris Evans could return as the Human Torch but fans have grown used to seeing him as Captain America. Miles Teller is another candidate for Mr. Fantastic. He played the role in the 2015 film but the film suffered from poor reviews. Michael B. Jordan played the Human Torch in the same movie but is now the established MCU villain Kilmonger.

Whoever shows up in Fantastic Four, the film will likely focus on the four members of the team: Reed Richards, who gains elastic powers and calls himself Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Girl, also known as Susan Storm, who can turn invisible and create force fields, her brother Johnny who can encase himself in fire and fly, and Ben Grimm who transforms into a rock-like creature known as The Thing.
With the MCU’s signature brand of humor, fans can likely expect callbacks to the previous films starring the Fantastic Four. As the MCU brings in the Fantastic Four and two new Avengers films, the 2024-2025 box office season is sure to be a wild ride.
