San Diego Comic-Con Announces Saturday Schedule Packed With Events For Fans Of Television And Film

Marvel panel at SDCC

San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) is officially less than 2 weeks away. To build up the hype and excitement Comic-Con International has been slowly releasing the full panel schedule to tease and assist attendees in planning their days and nights in San Diego. Now, we have the panel schedule for Saturday, which promises to be the biggest day of the convention. Let’s check out what is in store.

Hall H - For The Movie Fans

  • Warner Bros Theatrical 10:15 AM- 11:15 AM

  • House of the Dragon 11:30 AM- 12:30 PM

  • Start Trek Universe Panel 12:45 PM- 2:15 PM

  • The Sandman 2:30 PM- 3:30 PM

  • A Panel with Kevin Smith! 6:30 PM- 8:00 PM

Kevin Feige introducing MCU Phase 4

This year, the elusive Saturday Hall H panel will once again be anchored by Marvel Studios. A report back in early June indicated that Marvel may be skipping the largest pop culture celebration. However, later on, Kevin Feige would confirm that Marvel will indeed be at San Diego Comic-Con this year, promising to bring “special guests.” In 2019, the Marvel Hall H panel introduced Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe along with its cast. One probably can speculate as to who Feige will bring to the panel this year and if he will be teasing Phase Five.

Making another return to Hall H is Kevin Smith’s annual Hall H panel. With the recent release of the Clerks III trailer, the cast will be joining Smith on stage as he brings the world premiere of the opening 5 minutes of Clerks III

While Marvel may be headlining Saturday Hall H at the end of the day, it does not mean that DC will not be getting any action. The first Saturday Hall H panel kicks off with Warner Bros bringing the highly-anticipated DC movies Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods along with their stars Dwayne Johnson, and Zachary Levi. Another DC property hits the scene with the Netflix live-action adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s comic series The Sandman. The panel will bring a special video presentation followed by a Q&A session with the cast and producers.

As George R. R. Martin fans very patiently await the release of Winds of Winter, HBO brings back House of the Dragon, which will tell the beginning of the end of House Targaryen roughly two hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones

Even though Star Wars seems to own the television screens these past couple of years, the Star Trek Universe is very much alive.  The casts and producers of Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will go “where no man has gone before” as they discuss the latest season, and hint at what may be coming up next.

Leading up to the Marvel Studios panel at 5 PM, Entertainment Weekly returns to Hall H, this time bringing fearless female and/or nonbinary figures in the industry. These power players will share anecdotes and life lessons with the audience as they lead a discussion about roles that redefine the rules.

Ballroom 20 - For The Television Fans

  • Evil Exclusive Screening and Panel 10:15 AM- 11:15 AM:

Family Guy panel SDCC

While Saturday Hall H panels are traditionally focused on films, Saturday Ballroom 20 panels are focused on television. In the past, DCTV dominated the room with Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and Batwoman. With the Arrowverse no longer on air, Ballroom 20 this year is anchored by the usual cast and creators of The Simpsons, American Dad, Family Guy, and The Orville. These panels will bring exclusive first looks at the upcoming season like The Simpsons’ sneak peek at Treehouse of Horror XXXIII and a never-before-attempted bonus Halloween episode, and Family Guy’s season 21 premiere episode.

Two shows that might have slipped under everyone’s radar filled in the remaining space. Evil’s exclusive screening and panel discussion open Saturday Ballroom 20. Now in its third season on Paramount+, the series about a skeptical female psychologist who investigates the church’s seemingly supernatural mysteries first premiered on CBS in September 2019. Later on in the evening, The Players of Mythic Quest, a workplace comedy also in its third season on Apple TV+, will be sharing an exclusive first look at its upcoming season.

AMC brings a television remake of Interview with the Vampire. Fans of the book and the movie can judge for themselves as they view the creative process behind the camera and watch the series’ official trailer.

Before Ballroom 20 switches gear, Critical Role: Q&A with the Cast rounds out the Saturday panels. This internet sensation started with a group of friends (who all happen to be talented voice actors) recording their Dungeon and Dragons sessions. Now in its third campaign, Critical Role is responsible for introducing many to the classic tabletop role-playing game.

Closing out the day is The San Diego Comic-Con Masquerade. This annual tradition brings the best of the best cosplayers as they delight the audience with their original and re-created designs.

Indigo Ballroom, Room 6BCF, And More

The Resort poster

While Hall H and Ballroom 20 typically take the spotlight at SDCC, other interesting panels are going on at the convention (especially if you did not manage to get into the elusive Hall H).

Indigo Ballroom is known for smaller fandoms. This year, it will host TV Guide Magazines’ Fan Favorites 2022 where your favorite stars gather to discuss their favorites. The cast of SYFY’s Resident Alien and Chucky will also bring an exclusive look at what is coming next for their shows. Peacock’s The Resort will host a special screening of the “coming-of-age love story disguised as a fast-paced mystery.”

Room 6BCF hosts Naruto 20th Anime Anniversary (has it really been twenty years?) where all attendees will get a limited-edition Naruto Anniversary poster. Pop star Kesha will be discussing her upcoming docu-series Conjuring Kesha later on in the day. Bill Nye the Science Guy will introduce his all-new science disaster series The End is Nye in Room 6A.

As always, Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con promises to be packed with exclusive looks and panels for fans of television and film alike. There is something for everyone even if you forget to camp out the night before and could not get into Hall H. Don’t forget the off-site events happening around the convention center that is open to everyone and do not require a badge.
