Star Of Marvel Studios' 'Blade' Mahershala Ali Is Reportedly Frustrated By The Production Of the Film
Announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, Blade is one of the most anticipated movies from Marvel Studios and is set to complement The Multiverse Saga alongside other upcoming hits like Ant-Man: Quantumania and The Marvels. However, although we have little information regarding the plot or its cast, the movie has been making the headlines of the media due to how chaotic its production process has been.
According to Jeff Sneider, an industry insider, the script of the movie is “roughly 90 pages” long and only features “exactly TWO (lackluster) action sequences” that don’t specifically enhance the movie. In his tweet, Sneider also said that Mahershala Ali is “very frustrated with the process.”
One can’t tell how much 90 pages is worth in minutes, however, two action sequences are certainly underwhelming compared to the action we witnessed in Wesley Snipes’ original Blade trilogy. Furthermore, according to the same source, director Bassam Tariq departed the movie one month before the film was due to begin shooting, and X-Men ’97 and Moon Knight’s writer Beau DeMayo is said to be joining Marvel Studios’ Blade to work on the script previously penned by Stacy Osei-Kuffour. These unfortunate events added to the fact that this is Ali’s Marvel debut as Eric ‘Blade’ Brooks, let’s plenty of reasons for the actor to be frustrated.
Finally, Sneider also commented on how Kevin Feige was doing God's work when it came to overseeing all these productions, as he would be "spread too thin." Now, with 29 new different projects to supervise, one can only hope Feige’s scattered attention won’t affect the quality of future Marvel movies and Disney+ TV shows.
Blade is set to be released on November 5th of 2023.
