Star Wars fans rejoice, for a new teaser trailer has just been released today, making an announcement many, many fans have dreamed of. It is now official, a Knights of the Old Republic remake is indeed coming, exclusively, to PlayStation 5.

You heard that right!!!

Knights of the Old Republic is regarded as one of the greatest Star Wars games ever made and has a huge cult following. Fans have been begging for a remake for years. Whilst it seemed like a logical move to make, nothing ever came. Rumours were circulating on social media earlier this year about a remake, but again everything went silent, until today.

To fans, anytime for this would be the right time, however with all the attention Star Wars has been getting lately, it couldn't have been planned for a better time in terms of "riding the hype". We have so much Star Wars content coming our way over the next few years, a lot I have noticed is bsed on Nostalgia (bringing Luke back, Obi-Wan show, Boba Fett), that a remake of this game would quite literally be the cherry on top formany of us.

However, for those few people who maybe didn't get the opportunity to play the game or can't remember that far back, here's a small reminder:

Knights of the Old Republic (KotOR for short) was a role-playing game, developed by Bioware and published by LucasArts, set in the Star Wars universe. It was released for Xbox and PC in 2003 to rave reviews.

The games massive draw came from the fact it focused on a completely different era of time to what we had seen in the movies by this point (remember Revenge of the Sith didn't come out until 2005). This meant we got a whole bunch of brand new characters to get to know and play with, with no Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader or Obi-Wan Kenobi in sight.

The setting was 4,000 years before the end events of the Prequel Trilogy, where a Dark Lord of the Sith named Darth Malak, was waging all out war against the Galactic Republic.

Players took control of a seemingly random Jedi character and set out fighting the forces of the Dark Side across many different planets from the galaxy far, far away. They met and interacted with many additional characters on the journey and the player even has the ability to influence the plot with their actions. Negative actions would lead to the Dark Side, whilst good actions would keep you firmly within the Light.

Now, you may notice the above is rather vague with regards to the game (fans of the game may understand where I'm going here), and it is intentional. The game itself is a great example of how a Star Wars game should make players feel, but the greatest thing about it, was easily it's actual story.

The characters introduced in the game became firm fan favourites and received an intense backstory. the game itself creates a whole Star Wars story.

You play through the game, having fun, experiencing some pretty cool stuff, when all of a sudden it drops a huge bombshell on you by revealing a twist you never really saw coming. So whenever I talk about the game, I always make sure to confirm the person I'm talking to knows the secrets. In a world of social media, nothing remains unspoiled for long, so this article will not go into any details about the game and ruin the surprise.

Instead I am going to let you watch the teaser trailer and experience the chills I just got from watching it.
