Fans have been anxiously anticipating Amazon Studio’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power which airs this September. The fantasy television series is based on novels by J. R. R. Tolkien. Prime Video’s series will be set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Excitingly, you do not have to wait until the show drops to listen to the soundtrack, it’s out now!

Howard Shore (the composer for the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films) and Bear McCreary (known for his work on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D among other big name titles) combined their creative genius to create a precedent with an unbeatable score. There are 37 tracks available to lull you into a fantastical blissful listening session. McCreary reportedly composed the score and Shore wrote the main title theme. While the main theme was created independently of the score, McCreary explains that the two "fit together so beautifully.”

According to SlashFilm, McCreary used different approaches for the different groups in the series: the music for the Elves features "ethereal voices" and choir, the Dwarven music has "deep male vocals", the Harfoot's have music based on natural sounds, and the harmonic language for Númenor has Middle Eastern influences. Fans who already rushed to stream the music have mixed reactions: while some are excited to use the various soundtracks to aid in studying and sleep, others argued that the soundtrack felt forced and, specifically, the main theme was unable to be hummed—apparently a good measure of content for such titles from Marvel and Game of Thrones. Most are just excited to see how this score is utilized in story-telling.

Amazon Music’s version of the album includes two exclusive tracks. The show airs Friday, September 2nd.
