Meet Henry Cavill's Best Friend, Kal, His Therapy Dog

Superman has a super dog! Henry Cavill’s dog, aptly named Kal, is his best friend and constant companion. In 2011, Cavill adopted the American Akita when he was a puppy. Around the same time, Cavill started to get more work as an actor. Kal’s presence has helped to reduce the actor’s stress and anxiety which comes with being in the spotlight. He accompanies Cavill not only when he travels but also to sets, photoshoots, interviews, morning walks, and even to the gym.

While fans may just now be learning about Kal, journalists have known him personally for a while as he would join them in interviews. A journalist once asked Cavill what is the background photo on his phone. The answer, of course, is Kal.

Cavill says that Kal helps him to feel safe and loved, and understands him better than most people. Akita is a large fluffy breed of dog with a reputation for fierce loyalty to their owner. The sweet dog is an excellent ambassador for the loyalty and love that this breed is capable of.
