The classic tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG), Dungeons & Dragons, has been popular lately. It may just be in certain circles, but recently it’s been seen in Stranger Things and a whole section in Time magazine about it. After it suffered through satanic panic in the 80s, it has surged and is better than ever. One way is through something called “actual play” videos that are on YouTube, or Twitch. There have been countless groups of people popping up all over the place, playing Dungeons & Dragons for people to watch and enjoy. These include groups include Critical Role, The Glass Cannon, and Dimension 20. However, there are many smaller ones just starting as well. One of these “newer" shows is D&D, one of the best Dungeons & Dragons shows I have seen.

Natural Six started as a Kickstarter. The cast consists of, Harry McEntire, Ben Starr, Hollie Bennett, Alex Jordan, Aiofe Wilson, and Doug Cockle. They are all absolutely wonderful and seem to really enjoy the game and playing their characters.  The Kickstarter was extremely successful. The Kickstarter raised enough for 10 episodes. They have expanded past their original goal, and are going full speed to continue the story. If you would like to help fund the show, you can join their Patreon. There are various tiers so you can choose what works for you, and you get a whole bunch of bonus content, which is 100% worth the money. One of these bonuses is a post-show called Action Surge, where the cast discusses what happened in the episode. The Patreon enables you to get the episode immediately, otherwise, you’ll have to wait a week to see it on YouTube. Either way, it’s a wonderful addition to the story and a must-watch. You also get ad-free episodes, but I don’t know why you would ever want to skip some of the funniest ad reads ever.

The episodes always start a bit chaotic, and it’s always entertaining. The story takes place in the world of Reliquiae. Our cast of characters consists of Dolly DeWinter the Tiefling Bard, Kelnys the Dragonborn Druid, Raidion Thornbear the Wood elf Wizard, I the Kobold Rogue, and Endellion Rinnan the Human fighter. The characters don’t know each other at the beginning of the game and only end up together due to the organization they are all a part of. As the game goes on, they grow closer and continue to learn more about each other and their motivations for continuing. There are tensions between some of the characters, it is always interesting to see how it will play out. The first major arc has been completed, and where the story currently is, will set up an exciting second arc.

One of the best things about the campaign is that it is accessible to new players, and for those who may have never seen a D&D show before. They introduce their characters at the beginning of each episode, which is a great idea, especially at the beginning of the campaign. A few of the players in the campaign are also new to the game, so sometimes spells, and actions are explained when they do them. The DM, Harry McEntire, will also explain various mechanics as the game goes on. It’s very helpful for those watching, even if you’re a seasoned veteran of the game. It’s never a bad idea to get a refresher on spells, or how things work, because after all, there’s a ton to remember when it comes to D&D, and it's impossible to remember everything. It’s also nice to see that the players, and the DM, don’t know everything about the game as well.
