5 Things We Are Hoping To See In The ‘Harry Potter’ Series

Unless you have been living under a rock, you have heard about the new seven-season decades-long Harry Potter series that is in development at HBO Max. We have already discussed what Harry Potter spin-offs we need to see in the future. Now let’s take a look at a few things that we need to see included in the series!

5. The Common Rooms

This is something that we see more in Hogwarts Legacy, but the movies completely omitted the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff common rooms. Other than the quick glimpse of the Slytherin common room in The Chamber of Secrets, the only one we ever see is Gryffindor. With each book having a complete season dedicated to it, they must include more in-depth looks at the other house’s common rooms.

4. The Real Opening

In movie one, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, the movie briefly introduces Dumbledore, Hagrid, and McGonagall but gives us no information about them. Our introduction to Harry and the Dursleys is equally as vague. In the book though, we are given 30 pages of introductions and we get to see what the Dursleys’ lives were like before Harry moved in. We also get a glimpse into the horrors that Harry lives in as opposed to them just being hinted at in the movies. Harry has way more character in the book than he does in the first movie, so I would like to see the series take the time to give us actual introductions to these characters.

3. Voldemort’s Back Story

While we are given a brief glimpse into Voldemort AKA Tom Riddle’s backstory in The Chamber of Secrets, it pales in comparison to how much we get in the books. Later in the books, we get to see his family and it makes zero sense that this was cut out of the movies. Seeing as he is the ultimate villain and the main villain of the franchise, we need to see his origins along with Harry’s.

2. True-To-Book Characters

Hermione Granger

The characters in the movies are fun and will always hold a place in the hearts of millennials who grew up with them, but they are not the characters in the books. Hermione was watered down significantly in the book as was Harry. Neville is barely more than a side character in the movies, but in the books, he moves the plot along and was replaced by Hermione or Ron in multiple scenes. Lastly, I want more of McGonagall’s attitude and love for Quidditch!

1. Peeves!

Anyone that has read the books will agree that the thing missing most from the movies was Peeves the Poltergeist. He is a hysterical character that, while not super important to the plot, acts as a plot point throughout book one. We need more of the ghosts in general. While Nearly-Headless Nick was the most prominent ghost in the movie, we missed out on the Bloody Baron and Peeves.
