A New 'Arkham' Game Titled 'Arkham Shadow' Has Been Announced

It’s no understatement to say that the Batman: Arkham series changed things in the superhero video game genre. The first two games in the series, Asylum and City, are widely considered two of the best video games of all time. Origins and Knight were less well received, but still overall solid games. However, it’s been slim pickings since then. Gotham Knights was met with a resounding “meh”, which is still better than the lukewarm reception of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Basically, we haven’t gotten a truly great Batman game since 2015.
Aaaannd we’ll be waiting even longer.

This year it was announced that we would finally be getting a new Arkham game: Arkham Shadow. A new Batman game? One from the Arkhamverse? Maybe something that refines some of the ideas of the ending of Arkham Knight?!
Maybe, but the vast majority of people aren’t going to be able to play it.
While details of the game itself are sparse, the trailer didn’t reveal much of anything, what we do know is that the game will be exclusively for the Meta Quest 3. No PC, no Xbox, no PlayStation… a VR headset. Genius. That means that if people want to play this game and don’t already have one, they’ll be dropping 500 bucks to play this game, and others in a very limited library. So the developers are making a game for an incredibly small market for some as of yet unknown reason.
We don’t know what the game is about yet, so the story and gameplay might be fantastic and worthy of the name Arkham. Still, though, given that only a tiny fraction of people will be able to play it, is it worth the effort?
