'A Stitch In Time’: Star Trek DS9 Audiobook To be Released, Read By Andrew J. Robinson
“Truth, doctor, is in the eye of the beholder. I never tell the truth because I don’t believe there is such a thing. That’s why I prefer the straight-line simplicity of cutting cloth.”
-Garak, Deep Space Nine
Fans of the Star Trek spinoff series, Deep Space Nine (1993-1999), will have reason to rejoice with the upcoming release of an (unabridged) audiobook version of the novel, A Stitch In Time, about the station’s resident Cardassian “tailor.” What is even more remarkable about the release of the audiobook version of the book, which was previously written by the actor who portrayed Garak in the series, Andrew J. Robinson, is that Robinson himself will be narrating this audiobook version.
Of course, who else would be better to write and tell the story but the man who once skillfully portrayed “plain, simple Garak” onscreen? A Stich in Time, first published in May 2000, fleshes out the enigmatic Cardassian spy-turned-tailor-turned-war hero’s past and his post-Dominion War return to his now shattered homeworld of Cardassia Prime.

Robinson is very excited to be doing this, saying during his announcement on StarTrek.com:
“Narrating the book for the audio version and revisiting Garak and his story was a true labor of love. It made me realize just how much I miss the rascal (but not the make-up!). I hope that people, including those who have read the book, enjoy listening to Garak’s remarkable journey as much as I enjoyed taking it again.”
The book, which is being published by Simon & Schuster, is set to be released on August 1, 2023. Pre-orders are currently being taken through Amazon.com and elsewhere. You can currently listen to a 13-minute sample of the book here:
