A Trailer For 'Moana 2' Has Been Released
Cinemark Theatres posted a 15-second teaser trailer to X (formerly known as Twitter) Wednesday afternoon that is sure to call Moana fans back out to the sea or at least the cinema on November 27, 2024, when it is set for release. As the video begins, paradise comes into view in the form of a seemingly small island off in the distance, with the sun low on the horizon shining through trees with lavender waves softly rippling as the water meets the sky at sunset, matching the hue of the water. Also, just off in that distance, there is a canoe approaching the island with winds in its sail.
The trailer zooms in on the island and cuts to Moana’s bare feet as her toes dig into the sand. She steps back as the camera zooms out to see her holding a conch shell that she blows air into with her head tilted back. While the sound plays, the camera continues its descent to reveal her boat and the waves rolling into shore. The music associated with her ancestors in the previous film plays as the screen fades to black with “Disney Moana 2” in blue letters. As the music ends and the “Only In Theaters November” message pops up, Maui’s voice is heard off-screen.
Bob Iger, CEO at Disney, shared the announcement during an interview with CNBC. A press release stated, “Moana remains an incredibly popular franchise, and we can’t wait to give you more of Moana and Maui when Moana 2 comes to theaters this November.” IMDb summarizes the storyline as “An unexpected call from her ancestors finds Moana traveling to the far seas of Oceania for an adventure, unlike anything she's ever faced.” No other details have been released just yet.
