Colin Farrell Says 'The Penguin' Will Finish Filming By The End Of The Year
Following the release of The Batman, fans were elated to hear that two spinoff projects were in the works. The one that has gained the most press and traction is Collin Farell’s Penguin spin-off series. He delivered a standout portrayal of the character, leaving fans anxious about news on the project. Farrell has finally shed some light on when shooting will start and finish.
When asked by Variety how long the shooting would be, Farrell responded, “About five or six months. We go in February.” He also added that he did not imagine that there would be a spin-off series while he was working on The Batman:
“No, not all… I just thought it was the tip of the iceberg, pardon the pun, that we were getting to do six or seven scenes in the film. I was grateful for them, but I wanted more.”
Farrell went on to praise Mike Marino’s makeup for the character, calling it the main source of inspiration for a spin-off series. This ultimately led the actor to speak to a producer of the film, Dylan Clark, who was very interested in the idea.

When images first circulated of Farrell as the Penguin, many were shocked to discover that he was the man under the makeup. Many called him unrecognizable in the role. Farrell further proved this point when he went off-set, fully in makeup, and went to a Starbucks. He said that no one recognized him during this escapade.
Many had wondered where The Batman and its spin-offs stand in the midst of the Gunn and Safran DC shakeup. James Gunn and Matt Reeves confirmed last month that the franchise is still standing and will continue to stand on its own, outside of the rest of the DCEU. Little news has been released as to the other spin-off, an Arkham-centered series, but this report should ease some fans’ minds as to the future of the Reevesverse. With The Penguin series set to finish filming by the end of the year, fans can most likely expect the series to premiere sometime next year.
