Star Wars has just revealed the cover and new details about the formerly mysterious Bad Batch novel!

The novel’s existence was accidentally revealed a short time ago on a bookseller’s website, but official news was posted on StarWars.com on February 5th. The site features the book’s gorgeous cover art, created by Marie Bergeron.

Written by Lamar Giles, Star Wars: Sanctuary — A Bad Batch Novel is set during Season 2, and focuses on the Batch’s efforts to help rebuild Pabu in the wake of the tidal wave that washed over the island in the eponymous episode “Pabu”. Following a plan from Phee Genoa to acquire resources for this endeavor, despite some of Hunter’s misgivings, the crew begins a series of missions that quickly go awry. They end up picking up a couple on the run from an Imperial Security Bureau officer, with one of them pregnant and set to give birth any day now, and the clashing missions will drive the Batch to rely on the trust between each other to help see it through.

Speaking about the book, Giles noted how Star Wars has been an impactful source of storytelling for his whole life, and that he’s grateful for the chance to write for a franchise he’s been a fan of for so long. Giles previously contributed a short story to From A Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi, and follows a similar path to several other authors who also got their start writing for Star Wars through short stories in FACPoV.

Star Wars: Sanctuary — A Bad Batch Novel releases August 5th, 2025.
