Dave Filoni Discusses 'Avengers'-Style Character Meetup In His Future 'Star Wars' Movie
Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau’s other half of the dynamic Star Wars duo, hinted that his Star Wars film may have an “Avengers assemble” feel, featuring numerous characters and pulling from sources including Star Wars Legends. Filoni and Favreau recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly’s Dagobah Dispatch podcast and talked a little more about Filoni’s upcoming Star Wars film.
While little is known about the film at this time, we know that it will take place in the New Republic timeline, falling somewhere in between Return of the Jedi and The Mandalorian. Filoni, who has spent the last several years creating live-action Star Wars shows for Disney+, stated, “I’m just excited to make a movie.”

Favreau revealed that the duo planned on channeling their inner child to figure out which characters will make the cut:
"We joke that it's like we're playing with action figures, like, 'What's in the box? Let's play with what's in the box!' And that's what you do when you're playing and you're a kid."
As the showrunner of two highly popular Star Wars animated series, The Clone Wars and Rebels, Filoni has shown that his passion and love for all things Star Wars translates well onto the small screen. The fandom is expecting him to successfully make the transition to the big screen. Until then, fans can look forward to the upcoming live-action series Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew.
