'Dungeons And Dragons' Brings Back Vecna And Six New Books For Their 50th Anniversary

For a game that’s been around for five decades, Dungeons & Dragons is continuing to gain popularity. The game officially turns 50 years old this year, and to celebrate Wizards Of The Coast had some big announcements regarding the special anniversary. Fans can expect six new book releases, upcoming gaming events, and brand collaborations, some of which may leave you with questions.

The celebration kicks off in March when the brand deals start to pop up. The merch collabs include Lego, which will release a Lego Ideas set, a shoe and apparel collab with Converse, and a tie-in with Pop-Tarts. There are no additional deals on the Pop-Tarts collab, but let's hope they’re dice-shaped.

Book-wise, fans should expect a trio of primary rulebooks that will be Dungeons & Dragons into the next era, including a new Players Handbook and Dungeon Master Guide released in 2024. A new Monster Manual will be released a bit later in early 2025. Wizards is also bringing back the big bad villain Vecna, in a new campaign setting called Vecna: Eve Of Ruin. It’s perfect for characters levels 10-20 and is a high-stakes adventure where the entire multiverse hangs in the balance. This will be released on May 21st. A book showcasing D&D's inception is also being released, titled The Making Of Original Dungeons & Dragons 1970-1977. It will include a ton of new content, including some items never-before-seen. The book is available for pre-order on Amazon and will be released on June 18th. Quests From The Infinite Staircase is an adventure anthology suitable for characters levels 1-13. It will be released on July 16th.

Don’t fret, however, if you can’t join the celebration by purchasing, as there will be interactive ways to celebrate. An event in March will bring fans together from all over to showcase their new campaign, Descent into the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth. It will be available wherever you currently play your campaigns.
