George Lucas Throws An Epic Party At Skywalker Ranch For His 80th Birthday
Thank the maker! George Lucas turned 80 on May 14th, and he celebrated in a big way. He invited all his closest friends to celebrate at the 4,700-acre Skywalker Ranch and the party went from 6 pm to midnight. There were over 150 guests present include MC Steve Martin as well as Alicia Keys, Jon Batiste, Don Henley, H.E.R., Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Samuel L. Jackson, Tyler Perry, Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Robert De Niro, Glenn Close, Queen Latifah, Kerry Washington, Chris Rock, Don Henley, Swizz Beatz, Jon Favreau, and Warwick Davis.
The event featured music from Star Wars and Indiana Jones, the two franchises that led George to legendary levels of success. Mellody Hobson, George’s wife, was the host, and is said to have been ‘warmly greeting everyone at the party’ and was said to be an ‘exceptional host’. The source who said this also said “The drinks were flowing, creating an atmosphere similar to a family gathering [rather] than a white-glove affair,” and “Yet, I assure you, everything was on point and Lucas-themed.”
George created Lucasfilm and in 2012, sold it to Disney for $4.05B, which included both the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, both of which have seen Disney-made movies since.
