'House Of The Dragon' Casts Four More Characters For Season Two

HBO’s House of the Dragon is making serious progress towards a second season. Production resumed for the series several weeks ago, and now new cast members and their characters have been announced! Gayle Rankin, Simon Russell Beale, Freddie Fox, and Abubakar Salim will be joining the adventure.

Gayle Rankin’s character will be Alys Rivers, a healer in Harrenhal who is a paramour of Prince Aemond Targaryen. In George R. R. Martin’s original novel, Alys Rivers is a powerful witch who could reportedly see visions of the future and served as a wet nurse in Harrenhal. Rankin is best known for roles including Queen Victoria in The Greatest Showman, Emily Dodson in HBO’s Perry Mason, and Sheila the She-Wolf in Glow.

Simon Russel Beale will be playing Ser Simon Strong, the castellan of Harrenhal who is in charge of keeping the castle and surrounding areas running in the absence of its lord. Beale is best known for his roles such as the Baker’s Father in Into the Woods, Dionysus in Thor: Love and Thunder, and David Ben-Gurion in Operation Finale.

Freddie Fox’s character is connected to others through familial relations. Ser Gwayne Hightower is the youngest son of Ser Otto Hightower and brother of Queen Alicent. He is a knight and an officer of the City Watch of King's Landing. Fox is best known for roles including Rubio in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Mark Thatcher in The Crown, and King Louis in The Three Musketeers.

Abubakar Salim will appear as Alyn of Hull, one of the “dragonseeds” who would later become head of House Velaryon. Salim is best known for roles such as Yousef Hassanin Informer, Pedro in Jamestown, and the voice of Bayek in Assassin’s Creed: Origins and Valhalla.

House of the Dragon Season 2 doesn’t have a confirmed release date as of now. However, it will likely drop sometime in 2024.
