Leonardo DiCaprio And Martin Scorsese Led’ Devil In The White City’ Dropped At Hulu
Erik Larson will have to wait for his novel ‘Devil in The White City,’ to get an onscreen adaption. The series has certainly had a roller coaster ride over its decade-long development.
According to the official logline, the show “tells the true story of Daniel H. Burnham, a demanding but visionary architect who races to make his mark on history with the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, and Dr. H. H. Holmes, America’s first modern serial killer and the man behind the notorious ‘Murder Castle’ built in the Fair’s shadow.”

Formerly intended to be a feature film starring DiCaprio and directed by Scorsese, the production started to take the form of a TV series, with Jennifer Davisson’s name also attached as an executive producer. Other folks involved at some point include Rick Yorn, Sam Shaw, Mark Lafferty, Lila Byock, Michael Shamberg, Stacey Sher, Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves, Todd Field, and Paula Wagner.
In the most recent iteration, DiCaprio, Scorsese, and Davisson were all listed as executive producers, with Keanu Reeves in the leading role and Todd Field directing. However, field dropped out of the show in October, with Reeves following shortly after.
The show had been in production since 2019, with Hulu ordering it in August of last year. The final fate of the TV series is yet to be seen.
