Leslye Headland sat down and discussed her currently running Star Wars D+ series, The Acolyte, and some of the momentous events that happened in the show so far, especially the recently aired episode, Night, which, among other things finally revealed the identity of “The Stranger” behind the red-lightsaber-wielding masked person who was seen training Mae earlier in the series.

Musically inclined Star Wars also picked up on something else: Kylo Ren’s theme/motif was briefly heard towards the end of the episode when Qimir (aka “The Stranger”) returns to collect his belongings and discovers an unconscious Osha. The motif was also glimpsed briefly following his appearance in the first episode, Lost/Found, as the credits roll.  What does it mean though?  Why does a theme/motif from a character, Kylo Ren, who doesn’t appear in the Star Wars universe for over a century, show up in The Acolyte?  What can it mean?  Headland took care not to spoil anything but confirmed that it was intentional and that the association would eventually be revealed, "It is there on purpose, but I can’t tell you why, and I can’t go into what it is. But you shall see."

Fans have already been heavily theorizing about what it could mean. Qimir reveals that, to the Jedi, he would be considered a Sith, which is supported by his earlier references to the Sith Code in Revenge/Justice. However, other people have speculated that he may instead be somehow related to the mercenary group, The Knights of Ren, who were introduced in The Force Awakens and The Rise of Skywalker, as well as the comic book series, The Rise of Kylo Ren.

The Knights of Ren were also led by Kylo Ren after he sought out and killed its leader before the events of the sequel trilogy. This speculation is largely based on the musical cue associated with Kylo Ren, especially Qimir’s helmet, whose appearance resembles Kylo Ren’s. Whatever the true answer is, we have two more episodes in the series for this to finally be revealed.   For those needing a refresher on what Kylo Ren’s theme sounds like:
