Paramount+ has released a trailer for the second season of its new hit Star Trek series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, a popular spin-off from Star Trek: Discovery’s second season, features a pre-The Original Series U.S.S. Enterprise commanded by Kirk’s immediate predecessor, Captain Christopher Pike, played by Anson Mount. Many of the first-season regulars will be returning to their respective roles in the series such as Rebecca Romijn as Una Chin-Riley, Ethan Peck as Spock, Jess Bush as Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La’An Noonien-Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Nyota Uhura and Babs Olusanmokun as Joseph M’Benga. The trailer teases what appears to be many new and exciting things planned for the series’ second season, as well as some interesting developments for some of its main characters.

Glanced in the trailer include the future Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise, James T. Kirk, making an appearance in at least one episode, Spock sharing a drink (Bloodwine?) with a group of Klingons and belching, as well as commanding the Enterprise crew to “make this ship go……..now,” while sitting in the Captain’s chair. The teaser also reveals the presence of actress Carol Kane as the new Chief Engineer of the Enterprise. However, perhaps the biggest surprise revealed in the trailer is the appearance of Brad Boimler and Beckett Mariner, played by their respective voice actors, from the animated Paramount+ Star Trek series, Lower Decks, in an episode, which uses both live-action and animation and is directed by former Star Trek actor and director, Jonathan Frakes. Given how far in the future Lower Decks is set in relation to Strange New Worlds, their appearance certainly will be, well, fascinating.
