This new truth is known to Netflix CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, as is proven by their most recent statement that the giant built on binge-watching has never cancelled a successful show. The news was shocking because it was made after Netflix cancelled several shows that could be easily considered fan favorites.
Both CEOs defended their decision by offering a simple business explanation and revealing much about the company's core beliefs. The size of the audience must be proportionate to the size of the budget. Small audiences are acceptable for small shows with a smaller budget but not for shows of larger scales. The men also explained that they wanted to produce performances that ranked high in quality within their respective genres.
