On Thursday, August 31, Nintendo Direct will stream live on Nintendo’s YouTube and Twitch channels and plans to focus on Super Mario Bros. Wonder coming to the Nintendo Switch. The livestream won’t last very long, with an estimated run time of about 15 minutes.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder will see the return of everyone’s favorite red-hat-wearing-plumber to a 2D playing style. The new game promises the return of everyone’s favorite characters from the Mushroom Kingdom, ranging from Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, and Yoshi, but within a new kingdom, the Flower Kingdom. In this new world of challenges and power-ups, players can turn Mario and his team into elephants and utilize the “Wonder Flower,” which will bring players unpredictable, level-altering effects.

However, this game will bring about a nostalgic tinge of emotion amongst Mario fans as the game marks the first Super Mario Bros. game not to feature voice actor Charles Martinet as the mustached plumber. Martinet has been the voice of Mario on all gaming platforms since the release of Super Mario 64, yet he announced his retirement from the role this week.

Nintendo did release a statement explaining how Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto and Charles Martinet will be featured in an upcoming “...special video message” to the fans. Martinet voiced other characters like Luigi and Wario for the game series.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is set for release on Nintendo Switch on October 20.
