New 'The Acolyte' Novels Have Been Announced
San Diego Comic-Con 2024 has been a treasure trove of Star Wars announcements. There have been surprises left and right about upcoming books, comics, and other media throughout the weekend. Lucasfilm conducted a panel and announced new Star Wars books and comics, specifically ones related to The Acolyte and the High Republic era.
Marvel’s The High Republic comics will pick up again in February 2025, featuring Kelnacca, the Wookiee Jedi from The Acolyte. Kelnacca will also star in a one-shot comic by Cavan Scott this September. An untitled young adult novel by Tessa Gratton (The High Republic: Temptation of the Force), continues the stories of characters Jecki and Yord and is set for release in 2025.

Another novel in the works is The Acolyte: Wayseeker, featuring Vernestra Rwoh 20 years before the events of The Acolyte. Author Justina Ireland is known for the Light of the Jedi series and for writing multiple novels with Gratton, including their newest release The High Republic: Defy the Storm. The Acolyte: Wayseeker is available for preorder with a release date of May 6, 2025.
The High Republic: Tears of the Nameless by George Mann will be published on September 24, and will continue the storyline from Defy the Storm. The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi by Charles Soule will mark the finale of Phase III of the High Republic publishing initiative with a Spring 2025 release. Both of these novels were already revealed over a year ago at Star Wars Celebration Europe, but it’s helpful to keep them on the radar.
Books of concept art are forthcoming as well. The Art of Star Wars: The High Republic - Volume II by Kristin Baver with a foreword by Rebecca Henderson (Vernestra in The Acolyte) will be out in February 2025. The Acolyte: Visual Guide by Pablo Hidalgo should be out in March 2025. The Art of The Acolyte, also by Baver, is due for a July 2025 release. The Star Wars Encyclopedia: The Comprehensive Guide to the Star Wars Galaxy will come out in November 2024 and begins with a foreword by Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka in Ahsoka).
The video game Star Wars Outlaws, the first open-world Star Wars game, set between Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, will launch shortly on August 30. An art book, The Art of Star Wars: Outlaws, will follow the game's release around its first anniversary late next summer.
A new comic series entitled Star Wars: Battle of Jakku - Insurgency Rising will begin publication on October 2. The High Republic Adventures: Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone will come from Dark Horse Comics on October 9, 2024, with this first issue of four written by Daniel José Older. Finally, a collection of graphic novels about the prequel trilogy by Alessandro Ferrari, Matteo Piana, and Ingo Römling will hit shelves on November 12.
This diverse array of upcoming Star Wars content will provide fans with many means of exploring the galaxy. From the High Republic era through the Battle of Yavin, the Star Wars universe continues to expand in exciting ways!
