It seems that Netflix is keen on making Avatar: The Last Airbender fans suffer as each day goes by without photos or even a trailer with a release date to get us by. Luckily, there’s Avatar Studios and its projected lineup to keep us sated in the meantime. Though it was surmised that this would happen, the official release date of their first feature movie set in the ATLA universe was revealed yesterday and we now know who is directing it.

At CinemaCon, it was revealed that the first animated movie from Avatar Studios, the one about adult Aang and the Gaang, will release on October 10, 2025. In addition, it was revealed that the director will be Lauren Montgomery, with the original creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino, and Eric Coleman, set to produce. An image of the group was released today depicting what the members of the Gaang will look like for the movie. Notably absent, however, is Suki, Sokka’s love interest from the show.

RELATED:

Not much is known about the movie other than it will feature the Gaang as young adults around the age of 25, placing it about 10 years after the events of the show that ended in 2008. The title is rumored to be The Hidden Kingdom. Dante Basco is set to reprise his role as the voice actor for Fire Lord Zuko. Beyond that, besides some production-level hires, there’s nothing else to confirm, but at least there’s a hard date now.

This will be one of three films planned, at least, in the recently formed studio’s upcoming slate. Another is set to be about Zuko, and the third may be about Avatar Kyoshi. The road ahead for the studio is jam-packed and looks exciting.
