SAG-AFTRA To Commence Pickets For Video Games Strike At Warner Bros
Another strike is on the horizon, and this time it’s the video game industry. After more than 18 months of negotiations, no deal was reached with the major video game corporations. One of the biggest points in these talks was the use of AI. The picket will occur at the WB Games Inc. lot from 9 am-12 pm.
The Interactive Media Agreement (IMA) Negotiating Committee chair Sarah Elmaleh, and several voice actors, discussed the strike at San Diego Comic-Con. She explained that the proposed contract provisions are “built around consent and transparency that provides the basis for a meaning consent…and proper compensation. We’re willing to work with you, but we need to talk about how this tool will be used, and we deserve this right”. With the rise of AI, it makes sense that those in the video game industry, want to ensure they’re protected.
