As the highly commercially promoted Barbie and the darker, deep Oppenheimer dominate this weekend’s box office, other movies really have to work hard to find a niche. One that seems to have gone under many people’s radar is the horror movie Cobweb, starring Antony Starr, known for his role as Homelander in The Boys.

In this movie, eight-year-old Peter (Woody Norman), hears several disturbing noises in his sleep. His parents (Starr and Lizzy Caplan) simply dismiss his fears as his imagination running away, claiming that since they live in an old house there are going to be weird sounds from time to time. After several dismissals, his parents start to punish him for his constant questions. It’s up to a substitute teacher at his school, Miss Devine (Cleopatra Coleman) decides to be the one to intervene, as she is concerned for his mental health.

Cobweb is directed by Samuel Bolin and written by Chris Thomas Devlin. In addition to Noorman, Starr Caplan, and Coleman, the film also features Luke Busey, Jay Rincon, Anton Kottas, and Stephanie Sampson. It is currently showing in theatres. It is rated R.
