'The Creature From The Black Lagoon' Remake Has A Writer
Universal Studios has been working hard to get remakes for their classic monsters on the books. We already know that there are plans to remake Frankenstein with Guillermo del Toro, The Bride of Frankenstein with Maggie Gyllenhaal, and The Wolfman with Leigh Whannell. It has now been confirmed that James Wan’s remake of The Creature from the Black Lagoon officially has its writer.
While James Wan is in early talks to direct the remake, it has been confirmed that he will produce the film with Atomic Monster and that Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear and Judson Scott will act as executive producers on the project. Adding to the incredible credits on this film is writer and producer Sean Tretta. He is best known for his work on Star Trek: Picard, Mayans M.C., and Syfy’s 12 Monkeys. It is reported that his screenplay will be based on a treatment that was written by James Wan, Rafael Jordan, and Bryan Coyne. Wan’s remake will follow the original story of the classic film but will add “visceral horror” to an otherwise gore-less film. There is no word yet on casting or a possible release date.
You can check out the classic film by renting it on Amazon Prime Video.
