Spooky season is coming early this year! Disney released a teaser trailer for its upcoming suspense/terror movie, Haunted Mansion. This new version comes precisely 20 years after The Haunted Mansion, which featured Eddy Murphy and Marsha Thomason. However, both versions share characters like Madame Leota, for example.

According to IMDB, the plot is the following: “A single mom named Gabbie hires a tour guide, a psychic, a priest, and a historian to help exorcise their newly bought mansion; after discovering it is inhabited by ghosts.”

From the get-go, the plot is very different. If the 2003 version had two main adult characters (Murphy and Thomason), 2023’s would feature some pretty big names. Rosario Dawson plays the protagonist Gabbie, the new owner of the mansion and a mother of a 9-year-old boy. She is accompanied on-screen by others like Jamie Lee Curtis (Madame Leota), Winona Rider (has not been disclosed), and Jared Leto (Hat-Box ghost).

Dawson will not be alone in taking care of these ghosts. She will have the help of a special but, at the same time, a curious group of people. Owen Wilson (Kent, the priest), Danny DeVito (college History professor), LaKeith Stanfield (Ben Matthias, a paranormal tour guide), and Tiffany Haddish (Harriet, the psychic).

The movie also features some special effects that will surely keep the public on their toes the entire time, bracing for the unknown. Inspired by the Disney park attraction, Haunted Mansion will hit cinemas worldwide on July 28th, 2023.
