Trailer For 'Final Fantasy XVI' Shown At Playstation Showcase 2023
With less than one month to go before Final Fantasy XVI drops, a new trailer was aired during the Sony PlayStation 5 Showcase. Interestingly, after two trailers named ‘Revenge’ and ‘Ambition,’ the third is titled ‘Salvation’, leaving fans to speculate whether this is a clue to the three different acts of the game.
We already know that the main character Clive Rosfield will be battling his way through a mothercrystal-loaded Valisthea during different periods of his life. There is a host of Dominants accompanying the anti-hero, including Joshua (Phoenix), Jill (Shiva), Dion (Bahamut), and Barnabas (Odin). It’s also clear that the newest installment of the franchise is embracing its M rating. The fight visuals and storyline are aimed at an older demographic with more gore and darker themes.
Final Fantasy has large cinematographic set pieces that have the potential to make this game one of the most stunning releases of the year. With an upgrade to the gameplay to include kaiju-style battles, and the trailer hinting at ifrit on ifrit (yes, we know it’s not supposed to be possible) action, a 4K TV is a must.
Final Fantasy XVI is scheduled for release on the 22nd of June 2023 for the PS5.
