'Tuca & Bertie' Has Been Cancelled Again, This Time By Adult Swim

The creator of Tuca & Bertie has confirmed that the series has been cancelled by Adult Swim.

The series originally debuted on Netflix in 2019 before being cancelled after its first season. Cartoon Network’s adult programming block Adult Swim picked the series up for a second and a third season; however, despite the critical acclaim the series has seen since its first debut, Lisa Hanawalt has issued a statement to say that it will not be continuing for a fourth.

In the Twitter post, she thanks the fans for their support and how grateful she has been to work with Adult Swim. She also thanks the unions who supported all the cast and crew within the production. She’s not done creating and telling stories, she says, and does hope that one day she can bring her beautiful and weird ending for Tuca & Bertie to audiences.

Tuca & Bertie is an adult animated sitcom with a focus on friendship and the struggles of adulthood. Telling the story through two anthropomorphic birds, the plotlines see events play out that people can relate to, even if they are sometimes exaggerated for comedic purposes. Whether season 4 wil be picked up by another network remains to be seen, but fans of the series hold hope that it will return.
