Captain America: Brave New World is the newest installment within the Marvel Universe. The movie is the first time fans have seen Anthony Mackie as Captain America. The movie felt different from previous installments, which isn’t a bad thing. It is a new age for the MCU, and that is shown in this movie.
Thaddeus Ross was recently elected President of the United States. He was previously a General who dealt with various Avengers members on various occasions. He is trying to pass a treaty that would unite multiple countries regarding the ancient monument out in the Indian Ocean. There's also adamantium, which Ross wants to include in the treaty as well. Of course, this is not as easy as it seems, and Captain America steps in when his friend, Isaiah Bradley, is accused of trying to kill the president. Sam Wilson, while trying to prove his friend's innocence, stumbles across a much bigger problem. This movie was much more political and militaristic than the previous films, but it worked. It had great world-building and did a great job of ushering fans into this new story of Captain America.

Anthony Mackie shines as Captain America. Fans know that Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passed the mantle of Captain America to Sam Wilson at the end of Avengers: Endgame. He was hesitant to take the mantle and didn’t really embrace it until the end of Falcon And The Winter Soldier. This is the first time we get to see him as Cap, and he does a wonderful job. Sam as Cap is much different from Steve Rogers, and that’s okay. He represents everything Captain America is and fights for everyone. He proves that anyone can be Captain America and that you don't need a super serum to take the mantle. I cannot wait to see him in more MCU content. Harrison Ford as President Ross and Red Hulk was an excellent casting choice. Ford has been in iconic franchises like Star Wars and Indiana Jones, so it only makes sense to check off the MCU as well. Tim Blake Nelson was extremely creepy as Samuel Sterns, and I was a bit grossed out every time he was on the screen.
It wouldn’t be right to talk about the movie without addressing the controversy surrounding it, which had to do with the addition of Sabra. She is an Israeli superhero and is the alter ego of Ruth Bat-Seraph. In this movie, she did share the same name as the character, but her background was altered. Instead of being a superhero, she was trained as a Widow in the same Red Room that Black Widow and Yelena were trained in. Some people thought this was insensitive of Marvel to add such a character, with the current Israel-Palestine conflict going on.

The combat and the fight scenes were great. Some of the slow-motion shots were the coolest parts of the fights. Seeing Captain America utilize the wings on his suit and fly around was pretty epic. One of the best parts, however, was the new costume for Captain America. The one shown at the end of Falcon and The Winter Soldier was not it. The new costume, however, looks much better and keeps the wings on it. It also utilizes Wakanda tech. Even though Sam doesn’t have the serum, his new costume helps him out.
Fans need to accept that there is never going to be anything like the early days of the MCU. While new Avengers movies are in the works, it would be hard to compare them to Infinity War and Endgame. This new phase the MCU is heading in is exciting, and this movie proves it. It ushers in a new version of Cap and does a great job doing it. There are various callbacks to previous films, especially The Incredible Hulk. This is definitely a must-see for anyone who is a fan of Captain America or the MCU, even if it’s just to watch Anthony Mackie do a wonderful job as Captain America.
