10 Ways 'Andor' Season 2 Could Lead Into Rogue One
It's no secret that the end of season two of Andor will lead directly into the beginning of Rogue One. So, we can safely assume that one of the show's final scenes will have General Draven sending Cassian Andor to the Ring of Kafrene to meet with an informant named Tivik.
But there is more than just Andor's assignment that will ultimately make his path cross with that of Jyn Erso that could (or should) connect Tony Gilroy's TV show with (arguably) the best Star Wars movie of the Disney era. So, today, we are looking at 10 ways that Andor season two could lead into Rogue One:
RELATED:
1 De-Raeled
Stellan Skarsgård's Luthen Rael was one of the most charismatic figures of Andor's season one. He tried to unite the various rebel cells that opposed the Empire and did not care about the means he used as long as they justified the ends. Yet, when Jyn gave her speech on Yavin IV after she had returned from Eadu, Rael was strangely missing when the members of the Rebel Alliance discussed if it was even worth trying to steal the plans for the Death Star.
Andor'sseason two will surely address the fate of Luthen Rael and why he was absent in Rogue One. Chances are that he didn't live to see his big goal of a defeated Empire come to fruition.
2 Meeting K-2SO
It has already been confirmed that Andor season two will show how Cassian Andor met (or got into the possession of) K-2SO and reprogrammed the former Imperial security droid to become a member of the rebellion.
This story has already been told in a 2017 Marvel Comic. Still, chances are that Tony Gilroy either doesn't know or (more likely) doesn't care about this one-shot and will tell his own story on how K-2SO became the absolute loyal and disarming honest counterpart of Cassing Andor.
3 Saying Jyn Erso
The YA novel Rebel Rising by Beth Revis as well as the novelization for Rogue One, told the story of how Jyn Erso ended up in the prison on Wobani and how the Rebels found and decided to free her from there.
Season two of Andor could expand upon (and maybe alter) this story of how the Alliance came to realize that Jyn could be a powerful ally.
4 Deconstructing Gererra
Andor's season one presented Saw Gerrera as a deeply paranoid man who trusted no one and saw enemies in literally every corner. Still, it is a long way from the man we met in Rogue One, who was completely broken, both physically and mentally.
Andor season two will likely tell the story of how the former freedom fighter from Onderon lost his leg, had to rely on a breathing mask, and needed a creature like Bor Gullet to make sure he wasn't lied to.
5 The Fourth Moon
Another aspect that will surely come into play in season two of Andor is the move of the Alliance's headquarters to Yavin IV. When Jyn Erso was brought there at the beginning of Rogue One, the Rebels had already set up a permanent base there, so it will be interesting to see how and why they chose the jungle planet that circles the red gas giant.
Maybe we finally even learn why they left Dantooine, which was also the location of a rebel base at one time but had long been abandoned when the Empire got there in A New Hope.
6 Meeting the Pilot
At some point, Galen Erso made contact with the imperial pilot Bodhi Rook and over time must have learned to trust him enough that he tasked him with delivering his message about the vulnerability in the Death Star to Saw Gerrera.
On the other hand, Bodghi must have become so disillusioned with the Empire and so frightened about what he had learned from Erso that he was willing to leave his previous life behind and travel to Jedha to hand himself over to Gerrera's men.
7 Trouble with the ISB
Ben Mendelsohn will reprise the role of Orson Krennic in season two of Andor and chances are that he will sooner or later clash with Dedra Meero, the ambitious and ruthless ISB Officer, who saw the growing rebellion and wanted to crush it before it spread too far.
It is possible, that Meero discovers that the rebels have a lead on his project "Stardust" and warns Krennic about it, with Krennic simply dismissing such a threat and possibly even ending Meero's career.
8 Into the Vault
Another aspect that could tie Andor and Rogue One even closer is how and when the plans for the Death Star were brought to Scarif.
Maybe some Imperial bureaucrat was tasked with putting the files on the "hard disk" that Jyn and Andor would later steal. Maybe he even noticed that something was strange with the thermal exhaust ports that lead to the main reactor, but to save him the trouble of having to file a report, he just shrugged and thought that nobody would ever notice or find out about the weakness.
9 Breakup with the Alliance
We know from Mon Mothma's speech in Rogue One that at some point between 5 and 0 BBY, there was a fallout between the Rebel Alliance and Saw Gerrera's Partisans, as they had become too radical by using terrorist tactics. Andor season two could finally tell the details of this fallout, probably even connecting it with the event that caused Gerrera to lose his leg and damage his lung.
10 Construction mayhem
Although Krennic finally succeeded, the construction of the Death Satr was a logistical nightmare, with time and budget slipping several times, leaving Krennic with the constant Damocles sword above his head that his project is either abandoned or taken over by Tarkin.
Season two of Andor could show some of the troubles Krennic had to face, and maybe one of Andor's missions became another hurdle that Krennic had to overcome when the Rebels attacked a transport or an Imperial facility that was used for the Death Star’s construction.
