Top 5 Rebels We Want To See In 'Star Wars: Andor' Season 2

The first season of Star Wars: Andor has come to an end. The Rogue One prequel series starring Diego Luna as the titular Cassian Andor has proven to be quite the surprise breakout. With a darker, more grounded tone and a focus on intricate dialogue and character development, Andor has raised the bar for the kinds of stories and themes that the franchise is capable of. Aside from fleshing out Cassian’s backstory and delving deeper into the inner workings of the Galactic Empire, Andor has also given us an in-depth look at the early days of the Rebel Alliance.
Through Rebel figures like Luthen Rael, Mon Mothma, and Saw Gerrera, Andor’s first season showed how difficult it was for the Empire’s enemies to solidify a Rebel movement against the Emperor’s tyranny. With Andor’s second season bridging the remaining gap to Rogue One and zeroing in on the Rebellion itself, one can’t help but wonder if we’ll see any more of the major Rebel characters who were active during this time. With that said, we’ll go over the big five Rebels that we’re likely to see next season.

5. Jun Sato

Introduced in the second season of Star Wars Rebels, Jun Sato was a commander in the Rebel Alliance who even went into battle against Grand Admiral Thrawn. Voiced by Keone Young, Sato was also the father of Matt Martin, a younger Rebel and leader of the Iron Squadron. Though a lesser-known part of the Rebellion, Sato was extremely vital to their early efforts and would be a fun, deep pull for Andor on the same level as Wulff Yularen.
4. Alexsandr Kallus

One of the secondary antagonists and eventually protagonists of Rebels, Alexsandr Kallus began as an ISB agent who aided in the destruction of Zeb Orrelios’ people, the Lasats. Though they started out as enemies, Kallus and Zeb would bond during Rebels’ second season, leading Kallus to realize the error of his ways and aid the Rebellion under the codename of Fulcrum. Upon being discovered, Kallus officially left the Empire and was seen alongside Mon Mothma in the Rebel base on Yavin IV. Either as an Imperial or a Rebel, Kallus would be a nice addition to Andor’s supporting cast.
3. Raddus

A background character in Rogue One, Raddus was a Mon Cala admiral in the Rebel Alliance. Voiced by Stephen Stanton and puppeteered by Paul Kasey and Patrick Comerford, the old and grizzled Rebel spoke and emoted with intensity and purpose, leading the battle against the Empire on Scarif and receiving the Death Star plans from Jyn Erso and the rest of her team. Having already seen Rogue One characters like Mon Mothma, Saw Gerrera, and Melshi appear in Andor, Raddus would be another good bridge between the series and Rogue One.
2. Hera Syndulla

One of the primary protagonists of Rebels, Hera Syndulla was a major general in the Rebel Alliance. As the daughter of Twi’lek revolutionary Cham Syndulla, Hera had experience fighting against Imperial forces and acted as the glue that holds the crew of the Ghost together throughout the series. With the help of her (usually) trusty droid companion C1-10P “Chopper,” Hera aided her fellow Rebels at the battles of Lothal, Scarif, Hoth, Endor, Jakku, and even Exegol. With Andor’s next season focusing on the major figures in the Rebellion, and with her already having gotten a namedrop in Rogue One, Hera’s appearance seems almost as guaranteed as that of the number 1 character on this list.
1. Bail Organa

One could say that Bail Organa is the Rebel. Opposing Palpatine’s rule from the beginning alongside the Delegation of 2000, Bail helped to solidify the Rebellion from a secret base on Crait, all the while raising his adopted daughter, future Rebel leader Leia Organa, alongside his wife Queen Breha. With multiple crucial contacts for the Rebellion, including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, Saw Gerrera, Mon Mothma, the Ghost crew, and so many others, Bail is the most natural major character to bring in to Andor’s second season. Plus, his appearance in Rogue One would help create another strong transition between Andor and the film.
Any of the characters mentioned here are likely to appear in Andor’s next season. With all that said, I won’t be disappointed if we don’t see any of them. Andor’s strengths are in its originality and focus on new characters and ideas. So while major character appearances would be nice and fun to see, the core of Andor is ultimately rooted in the new. Whoever does appear in the second season, they’d better make ten men feel like a hundred.
