'Black Mirror' Director Has Been Added To The 'Game Of Thrones' Spinoff 'Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms'
The upcoming Game of Thrones spin-off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms landed a new director. Owen Harris, known for directing the Black Mirror episodes “Be Right Back” and “San Junipero” will direct the first three episodes of the new series as its lead director. Harris will also serve as executive producer. The showrunners confirmed that the first season will only be six episodes, which means that Harris is responsible for setting the tone and directing half the season. Harris’s other television directing credits include an episode of Jordan Peele’s Twilight Zone revival, Troy: Fall of a City, and some episodes of Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Misfits, and Mrs. Davis.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the shortened title. Previously, it was called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. Rather than following the sweeping affairs of the wider kingdoms, the show will narrow its focus to two characters Duncan and Egg from a 160-page novel by George R.R. Martin that shares a title with the series. In addition to bringing a director aboard, HBO has cast Peter Claffey as Duncan and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg.

The official synopsis reads, “A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros … a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.” The show is set after House of the Dragon and will take place 100 years before the events in Game of Thrones. The series is expected to be released sometime in 2025.
