Brendan O'Brien, The Original Voice Of Crash Bandicoot, Has Passed Away At The Age of 60

Brendan O’Brien, the original voice of Crash Bandicoot, passed away at the tender age of 60. Born in Hollywood CA, and raised in East LA, O’Brien is the son of Hollywood power couple, Edmond O’Brien (The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Barefoot Contessa) and Olga San Juan (The Count of Monte Cristo). He landed the part of the iconic character after meeting creator Joe Pearson, who then suggested he should go to a casting call.

O’Brien worked for the franchise under the Naughty Dog years (up until 2004) and not only gave life to the lead, but also N.Gin, Dr. Neo Cortex, Dr. Nitrus Brio, and Tiny Tiger. Crash Bandicoot had the most recognizable ‘Woah’ of the nineties. O’Brien’s quirky sounds helped transform a standard platform game into one of the best-selling PlayStation games of all time.

As well as being a talented voice artist, O’Brien worked as an actor, appearing in several TV movies and as a maths teacher in Riverdale. In his spare time, he played guitar and was an avid family man. He is survived by his wife, Ingrid, and two sisters Maria and Bridget. He will be sorely missed by his friends, family, and fans.
