Given the recent expansion of Pandora and the inclusion of the oceanic Na’vi people, Jake Sully and his family are set to come across more Na’vi people in the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash. The latest Avatar film is set to “prepare for an all-new kind of aerial travel, the sort that would make for a perfect Pandoran vacation”. According to Empire Online, Sully and the audience will be introduced to The Wind Traders, or Tlalim Clan, a new group of Na’vi who traverse the lush moon on gigantic jellyfish-like creatures. One highlight of this new clan will be their chief, Peylak, played by none other than David Thewlis.

Thewlis, most recognized as Lupin in the Harry Potter franchise, will spread his wings as a chief “reinvented” into a more “upbeat, happy, colorful” chief clad in a “gloriously opulent” cloak the color of a sunset made by the film’s costume designer Deborah L. Scott. Scott recounts how Peylak’s original wardrobe design was more rustic and rugged, only for director James Cameron to note how Chief Peylak didn’t look “grand enough” as his clan developed. After this development, Thewlis added his “swagger” in how he carries himself, and his new look commands attention from the audience and his peers.

The talent in the newest Avatar installment has the potential to surpass audience expectations. Given the positive responses Way of Water received, Fire and Ash can use this installment to venture into darker territory, given its volcanic setting. This contrast with Peylak's grand design creates a new cinematic experience for fans and Sully.
