Despite Singapore Studio Closing, Animated 'Star Wars' Projects Will Be Unaffected

Hollywood studios are in turmoil. Writers and actors are striking for better working conditions, actually getting paid for the billions of minutes people are streaming hit shows, and preventing AI from taking their jobs. As the major studios bring back former CEOs and merge with other studios, shows are being erased and people are being laid off. It’s not just relegated to the United States, either.
Word came down recently that the Singapore VFX studio behind Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series would be closing down. Naturally, fans were worried about what this would mean for the, as yet, unfinished Bad Batch series, and other, future animated shows from the beloved franchise. Dark Horizons, however, has found that fans’ concerns are not warranted.

According to one of their articles, Joel Aron, who serves as director of cinematography, lighting, and VFX at Lucasfilm Animation, tweeted out an answer to such fears. They quoted him saying, “Just to be clear, we’re not affected by this closure. LAL [Lucasfilm Animation Limited] is not in Singapore :) we’ve always been at either the ranch or where we are now in SF (or working from home!).” The quote goes on to say that they are hard at work on Bad Batch season three, and a second season of Tales of the Jedi.
Understandably, fans would be concerned, but it should hopefully assuage some of that fear to see Joel Aron’s words of assurance. Still, one can never really know what the future holds.
