Fear Street fans have been begging for news on the upcoming Netflix film Fear Street: Prom Queen after they released a poster for the film back in October. Not only did Netflix announce the release date for the film, but they also dropped a teaser trailer that gave fans their first look at the film. The newest film in the Fear Street franchise Netflix started back in 2021 will be directed by Matt Palmer, star Ariana Greenblatt, and feature R.L. Stine’s wife Jane Stine as one of the executive producers. Fear Street: Prom Queen is based on Stine’s novel, The Prom Queen, which was published back in 1992. This is a deviation from the Fear Street Trilogy directed by Leigh Janiak, which used the book franchise as inspiration rather than adapting one singular book.

The film is set in 1988 and will follow the Shady Side High students as they prepare for their prom. After the prom queen candidates are named, blood begins to run as they are picked off one by one. The teaser trailer features glimpses of the students on prom night as well as an axe-wielding killer and a blood-drenched tiara. The film won’t be released until May 23, but you can watch the Fear Street Trilogy on Netflix while you wait.
