Felicity Jones Muses Return To The 'Star Wars' Universe
(Spoilers for Star Wars: Rogue One Ahead!)
For many Star Wars fans, Rogue One can be considered one of the better films of the franchise to come out in recent years. Not only did the film expand upon just how dark and gritty the Star Wars universe can get, but it also introduced new rebels that would no doubt stick with the audience. One of those is Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones.
Despite the character's death at the end of Rogue One, some fans keep their hopes up that Jones' character could reappear sometime in the future (presumably in a galaxy far, far away). Considering the popularity of Andor, which stars Diego Luna's character of the same name, it's not hard to see why someone would be excited at the aspect of more potential screentime for Erso. With a second season of Andor on the horizon, surely Jones would return to her role, right?

While Jones has often commented on the possibility of her character returning to the Star Wars universe, she herself will not reprise her acting role: "…I still have hope for Jyn Erso at some point to make a comeback. But no, sadly I won't be," Jones stated on BBC's The One Show. Considering the training that was required of her to participate in the fight scenes, as well as the pressure of being a lead role in a Star Wars movie, it's not difficult to see her reluctance on returning. "I mean, it was a massive, massive challenge, I was doing a lot of martial arts in preparation for it. I mean it's on such a huge scale, I was quite in awe of the whole thing honestly."
Regardless of her position, there's no denying that Jones enjoyed the character, knowing there's still so much to Erso's story that requires closure. Unfortunately, due to the timeline regarding Rogue One, there doesn't seem to be much of a reason to reunite her with Andor, considering they don't meet until the film itself. In the end, it's a case of "wait and see," as writers always love the opportunity to throw in surprises for their fanbase every now and again. Who knows? Maybe one such surprise will include Jyn's re-inclusion into the franchise. Whether it's with or without Cassian Andor is yet to be seen.
