You could rest peacefully, though, knowing that you were right, at least according to the latest word out of industry leaks. Noted leaker NateTheHate, who recently said that the Nintendo Switch 2 (name not official) is going to be revealed this week, also claims that insiders within the industry claim that Halo is headed to PlayStation. This was supposedly corroborated by Jez Corden of Windows Central.

Microsoft also declined to comment.

The game would be the Master Chief Collection, and it supposedly would also be heading to the Switch 2. This represents a seminal point in the changing video game industry if this turns out to be true. It’s not too surprising, given what Phil Spencer has been alluding to for the last year, but it feels like the tipping point in the shifts happening within the industry. Cross-platform play is becoming more mainstream, and PlayStation has become more open to multi-platform releases, like the successful launch of Helldivers 2.

Phil Spencer has hinted that things are changing. This really started with the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard which was finalized in October of 2023, prompting Xbox to answer questions about what would happen to Call of Duty, a game that’s been multi-platform for years. Phil’s answers started with guaranteeing that CoD would still be multi-platform and shifted to stating that there is no hard line on what games would be kept solely on Xbox.

It’s an exciting time to see where the video game industry is going and to see where the dominoes fall from here if this turns out to be true.
