Gameplay For 'Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions' Has Been Unveiled

The Harry Potter franchise continues strong, with Hogwarts Legacy being one of the best-selling games of 2023, a reboot of the movies coming to HBO in the form of a TV show, and now an updated and modern game for Quidditch fans. Just yesterday, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions released its first gameplay footage.
The game will feature fan-favorite characters, as evidenced by Harry and Draco in the thumbnail for the video, but there will be a character creator and a career mode so players can make a name for themself in the world of Quidditch. Each pitch is pretty big, and as we saw in the original trailer, there’s even the Quidditch World Cup to play in.

As far as gameplay is concerned, it’s being compared to Rocket League. In the video, linked above, it can be seen that when a chaser (the offense) is pulling back to throw, there seems to be a charge aspect to the throw, with a couple of bursts that grow larger around the ball until it’s thrown. This suggests players have to strategize with throw intensity to try and fake out the keeper, who is meant to block the shot. There were also some shots of the seeker, the person responsible for finding the Golden Snitch, and it seems to be that you follow it by navigating through a series of rings while in pursuit.
There does not seem to be any indication of micro-transactions, and according to Kotaku, it’s been reported that there are not, which would then suggest that all items in the game are eventually acquirable. They also reported that there is no split-screen, but there is online co-op. They mentioned PVP, which suggests that you can play single-player with bots, like an EA sports game, but also online with actual player characters.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions releases September 3 on major platforms for about $30.
