Jensen Ackles Makes His Return As Batman In The First Trailer For 'Legion Of Super-Heroes'
The newest story in the current line of direct-to-video original films from DC is coming, and Warner Bros Home Entertainment has released the trailer. Legion Of Super-Heroes is the fifth story in the new “Tomorrowverse” continuity that began with Superman: Man of Tomorrow in 2020. It was there that Darren Criss began voicing Superman, and Jensen Ackles took on Batman for the two-part adaptation of The Long Halloween. They both return here and are expected to return for Justice League: Warworld, where presumably, the fuller team will unite for the first time.
As for this film, Supergirl (voiced by The Winchesters’ Meg Donnelly) is struggling to adjust to Earth after learning of the destruction of Krypton, so cousin Clark recommends she travel 1,000 years into the future to attend the Legion Academy, where she meets Mon-El, Dawnstar, Bouncing Boy, and Shadow Lass, as well as Brainiac-5, who she mistakes for being as villainous and cunning as his ancestor. In addition, The Dark Circle is seeking a mysterious artifact locked behind the Academy’s doors, and the heroes must all band together to stop them.
Fans of Justice League Unlimited may remember the episode “Far From Home” and so may know where the story is headed, but it’s all about the execution of adaptation. Strangely, the trailer does not give a specific release date, but it’s understood to be early 2023.
